This seminar introduces the CONNECT framework, a practical retention-focused approach designed to help couples counsellors keep clients engaged in therapy and improve therapeutic outcomes. Developed by experienced Couple and Family Therapist Jacqueline McDiarmid, the course explores the common reasons couples disengage from counselling and provides therapists with practical tools to build confidence, structure sessions effectively, and create visible progress for clients. Through case presentations, scenarios and discussion, participants will learn how to strengthen the first three sessions, engage both partners in the therapeutic process, manage ambivalence, track progress, and reduce feelings of stagnation in therapy. The course also focuses on creating safety and structure within sessions, using reframing techniques, balancing sessions effectively, and improving client retention in both private practice and agency settings. This training is suitable for therapists, counsellors and students working with couples, individuals or families who want to strengthen client engagement and retention in their clinical work. This training is delivered live via zoom and the session is recorded for those who cannot attend on the day.
